How do I get my website up and running?

In order to begin the design and construction of your website, we simply need to know the size of website your require. This means, the approximate number of pages and any other specific facilities you may require.. We can then provide you with a quotation and details of the deposit needed to begin work. Once your deposit is received, the design of your website will begin.

How long will it take to complete my website?

We aim to complete websites within 30 days. This is assuming you can provide us with the content (text) that you require on the site within this time frame.

How is my website designed?

The design process of your website consists of a brief chat about your requirements, so we can get an idea of what you like and don't like. You may well have a logo, letterhead, business cards, etc that may dictate the design or style of the website. Once we have an idea of what is required, we will come up with a design for the front page of your site and provide a preview of this. We then discussed the design and make changes as necessary until you are happy with the overall look and feel. We then construct the other pages of your website based on this design.
Through out the entire construction process you can view the progress of your website via the preview link we provide.

Is my website made from a template design?

No! All the websites we create are custom designed to your requirements. We do not use pre-designed templates.

I don't have a logo. Do I need to get one designed?

No, it is not essential to have a logo. We have designed many sites without specific logos, just take a look at our portfolio page to see some of the websites we have created. If you do have a logo that you wish to use on your website that's fine. Just send it to us. If you do not have a logo, but would like us to design one, we can do this for you. There will however be an addition cost for this service.

How much will my website cost?

The cost of your website will depend primarily on the size of the site (number of pages). We charge on a per page basis for normal websites. If you require Content Management, there is a monthly fee associated with this kind of site.

What are the on-going costs associated with my website?

If you have a normal brochure type website the only real ongoing cost is your annual website hosting. Details of our hosting services can be found here. If you have a Content Management System based website, there is an on-going monthly fee.

What if I already have a domain name?

You may well already have a domain name that you would like to use for your website. This is fine. There are two ways you can facilitate this. You can either configure the domain name to point at our servers so it can be used for your website (we can tell you how to do this and in most cases, do it for you). This means you will continue to pay the company you registered it with for the renewal of the domain and any configuration will be down to that company or yourself.
The other way is to transfer your domain name from the existing company to be under our control (you still own the domain name and can move it to any other host you like) where we can then handle all the configuration and setup for you. You will then pay us for the renewal of the domain name when it's due.

What about email?

As part of your hosting service with Medical Media we provide you with POP3 mail boxes and unlimited email addresses. The number of which depends on the hosting service you opt for. Your email can be setup however you like, such as forwarding to an existing email account, downloading to your Outlook, iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Windows Phone, Android device, etc. However you wish.

Can I see how many hits my website has?

Yes. As part of your hosting service you can login to your Control Panel to view the statistics of your website. The statistics are shows broken down however you like, monthly, weekly, daily, hourly, etc and what pages and files on your website people are looking at.

What Hosting service do I need?

There are three levels of website hosting. Bronze, Silver and Gold, depending on your needs. If you would like the ability to have your website updated whenever you like, go for the Gold server, if on the other hand you have a monthly newsletter on your website that will need updating, go for the Silver Service which includes monthly updates. If however you think you are only likely to want to make changes to the content of your website a few times a year, go for the Bronze service which includes quaterly updates to your site.
Content Management websites do not require hosting service as this is all included in the CMS monthly fee.

Can I use my own hosting service?

Yes. We can design your website and upload it to your own Hosting or provide the site on a disk or download for you to upload yourself.
Please be aware that if you use your own hosting, we cannot provide, email services, website statistics and backup for your site. Websites using our Content Management system must be hosted with us.

What is Content Management System (CMS)?

Content Management System (CMS) is a system that enables you to update your website instantainiously from any computer with a web connection. You simply go to your website, Login and select the page to edit. Change the infomation on the page and publish it. It instantly updates your website. It's as easy as using a word processor and provides the ability to expand and grow your website without limits.

Is my site optimised for Search Engines?

All websites designed by Medical Media are optimised and submitted to the major search engines for inclusion in their listings. It is important that your website can be found within the search engines, as in most cases this is the primary way potential patients will find you and the services you provide.

What are the GMC guidelines on private practice websites?

Private medical websites are covered under the GMC guidelines on Advertising. This is detailed under their "Communicating Information" section (68-71). The guidelines state that information on your website must be accurate, factual, can be checked and is not exploiting patients vulnerability or lack of medical knowledge. Along with this, the BMA gives guidance on promoting your private practice on their website here.
